Isaiah 59:1-2, 12-21
First of all we can never say that God is shorthanded. As we look out over the world today it may look that way. And can God hear? He who made the ear, can He not hear? People are separated from God because of sins. A repentant spirit and faith in Jesus Christ can bring us near. There is a clause stating that "truth is fallen in the street and equity cannot enter." What was true of Israel of that day can be said of the United States today. The arm of the LORD in verses 1 & 16 is a typical name for the Lord Jesus Christ. We have already seen that same term in chapter 33:1-2. There we see Him dying for the sins of the people. It was true of Him that He put on righteousness as a breastplate and a helmet of salvation. The last part which is garments of vengeance and zeal as a cloak will come at His second coming. The part in verse 20 about the redeemer coming to Zion is more true of Christ's second coming. He did come to be the sacrifice for sins the first time. At this stated time the Jews will look on Him who they pierced and mourn that they were so long in disbelief. This Jesus who will be their Savior then can be your Savior now. Accept Him today in true repentance.
