Psalm 115:1-18

I wonder what the psalmist meant when he wrote "not unto us, but unto thy name give glory." There was a time when Israel was an exalted nation during the time of David and Solomon. There was a time when the USA was also exalted when God was worshipped in truth. Now one could almost say,"Where is now their God?" Israel in those days worshipped their idols of silver and gold. The psalmist is sarcastic about them having all the characteristics of humans, but there is nothing there. There is nothing there at all. People who have idols have them because it makes them comfortable. It is easy to sin when you have an idol because there is no reprimand when sinning. Verses 9 & 10 speak of trusting in the Lord because He is their help and their shield. We have a living God who is in total control. We have a God who owns the heaven of the heavens. The earth was given to the children of men. We better be careful what we do in it and how we act in it. The last verse states this "We will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore. We must be in frame of mind and the condition of heart to praise Him.
