Let's look at verse three of this chapter: "Call unto Me and I will show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not." We Gentile Christians like to make this verse our own, and the truth is that God is great to anyone who calls upon Him. I would never scold anyone for that. However, Jeremiah was not speaking this to Gentile Christians. We can apply this truth to our situation today. The real truth of this passage of scripture is that Jeremiah's later words speak of the wonderful things are in store for the nation of Israel when their proper Lord reigns and He WILL reign over the whole world for a thousand years.
This prophesy is not true of modern Israel. Today the nation of Israel is like the dry bones with NO life as spoken of in chapter 37 of Ezekiel. There will be a day, yet future, in which God will breathe His Spirit upon that nation and it will live. Until this time we are in the time where God is winning people to Himself through acceptance of Jesus Christ. Are we winning people to Christ in this present day of grace? Have you accepted Christ as your own personal Savior?
