Daniel 1:9-21
Daniel was found here with two choices. He was to either follow what he felt was God's leading as in the past, or to go with the course of this present world he was in at the time. He possibly knew the choice he was making was risky. What if God didn't come through for him? However, he must have been in the habit of obeying God in his early life. This didn't start right here. This speaks of something about his Father and Mother and his childhood. He is now faced with the choice of obeying God as was with his past life of purity, or to now throw it all away and go with the flow. I am sure the appetities of the others were well satisfied with the kings food. Would God come through according to his choice. He is really putting God to the test. It would be his neck on the block if God didn't come through, but God did come through. Not only for Daniel but also for his three friends. The fact that his three friends were willing to follow speaks a lot for Daniel too. Because of his leadership they too were willing to put their own lives on the line. God came through for them, too. Who are we leading? Would anyone put their life on the line if they followed our advice or our ways? Think about it.
