There is a lot that could be said about these verses but for the sake of space and good reading I will be brief. First of all Paul is comforting a severely persecuted people. We don't have to look for any retribution. God will take are of it. "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord."
Because of God's judgment though I will quote something from 2 Corinthians 5:11, "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord we persuade men." Also in Hebrews 10:31, "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." That is why we need to seek people to receive Christ, turn from their sins to eternal life.
The next important thought is He is coming to be glorified in all His saints (people) and it says we will admire Him then. My question is: Do we glorify Him now in our life, and how much do we admire Him now?
Paul ends this with "that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you." Is this true in your life?
