I Thessalonians 1:6-10

What was so marvelous about these people of Thessalonica? First of all they believed Paul and those with him. However they were not just followers of Paul but of the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul was nothing in himself. He said that in another place. We don't follow a man but Christ. Now they were examples of all in the surrounding region of what Christ could do. The interesting thing about the next verse is then when Christ is followed, the person or group who brings the word is honored too.
In the next verse we have two words to and from. They turned to God meaning they accepted what Paul said about Christ. Then according to the second word, they turned from idols. They renounced their past evil practices. There are a lot of people who are wanting to turn to God, but they don't turn from past evil works. Are they saved? Perhaps so, but they are missing out on the joy of serving God.
These were serving, but also waiting for Christ to come back and take them home to Heaven. Whoever reads this, what is your position in Christ?
