The first thing I want to talk about is Paul's past. His was ultra religious. So much so that he would kill those of the true faith in Jesus Christ. But God had a plan for Paul to be the Apostle to the Gentile people. Paul calls his past ignorance and unbelief. I have a past too. There was a lot of ignorance and unbelief but God had mercy on me too and He had His own way of putting me in the so called ministry.
Then Paul comes out with the wonderful statement of Christ coming into the world to save sinners calling himself chief of sinners. I was that too, but my sins were just the opposite of Paul's. There was nothing religious about me. Sin is sin no matter which way you slice it. If you don't realize sin in your life you have no chance to realize you need to be saved. There was the story of a young man who asked a preacher how much does sin weigh. The preacher said, "To a dead man, sin weighs nothing at all, because he is dead in trespasses and sin." We are made alive when we repent and turn to God through Christ.
Paul closes this with a wonderful doxology. Christ is King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever Amen. Notice Paul's statement is that Christ is God. Paul once wanted nothing to do with Him. Do you recognize Christ as God and is He your God and Savior?
