James 1:9-18

What does it mean to be a lowly brother? It means that we have no standing, nothing to compliment us. Because of Jesus Christ we are something though still nothing as far as the world is concerned. The glory of man is like the grass of the field. The rich man can pass away that quickly. A man is blessed when he doesn't give in to temptation. We will get the crown of life if we endure. We can never blame God for the temptation to sin. It is because our own sinful desires that we give in and sin. Let us stand strong against all that would tempt us to sin. Good gifts are from God. We should not say that because of our own worthiness we received good gifts. God distributes them as He wills. Now the last verse says if we are born again it is all of God and nothing of ourselves. However, we are to be first fruits meaning an example of what the rest should look like. There is a slogan in the army, "Be all that you can be!"
