Romans 7:14-25
In these verses Paul is talking about the two warring factors at work in the life of every true born again believer. Another chapter that explains this is Galatians 5:16-25, where in verse 17 it says, "The flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh." These are the names of the two warring factors within us.In a certain way we have to give ourselves over to the spiritual nature or we will give in to the flesh or sinful nature. That is why sometimes I find new believers accepting Christ while in jail, getting out and finding themselves in the same kind of trouble again. Now if saved we do have a spiritual nature and the Holy Spirit lives within us. Paul said we are not to be controlled with earthly substances, things or ways but be filled with Spirit. This is my own interpretation of Ephesians 5:18. Paul describes this struggle vividly in the rest of our chapter, but I want you to see the growth process of chapters 6-8. Chapter 8 is the victory we can have if we completely yield to the teaching and power of the Holy Spirit. If we do it may not lessen the struggle but it will give us the power for victory.D.L. Moody once heard a man say, " It remains to be seen what God will do through a man totally yielded (controlled) to the Holy Spirit." Moody said, "I want to be that man." I do believe he was a good example of the truth of that statement.

Excellent comment on the war within us. D.L. Moody had a good goal that we should seek to follow.
