Acts 8:26-40
This man from Ethiopia was a very prominent man as a servant of the queen. It seems he was hand picked. It was God's hand of course. He had come to Jerusalem to worship, but he didn't find the answer there. There was religion in Jerusalem, but something better was in store for him. This reminds me of chapter 7:37-38 after the whole religious feast was almost done Jesus stands up and declares, "if anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink." This man seemed to be seeking something he couldn't find in all his worship at Jerusalem. It could only be found in the Lord Jesus Christ. Now God needs a servant. Phillip comes to the forefront as the one God has already used, and will use again. He will not only be used to save one man, but to carry the news to Africa. I have heard that there is a Christian group today that dates back to the Ethiopian man converted there. If you are a winner of souls for Christ you will never know how far reaching your work will be. You will know some day at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
