A couple of quick notes from today's passage.
1.) Jesus knew and stated that a prophet goes without honor in his hometown. This is true and will continue to be so. Jesus was not condoning this truth, instead he was rebuking the people for not accepting Him. Just because you have known someone for a long time does not mean that they are not able to deliver the Word of God to you. Let's be receptive!
2.) Jesus said that unless the generation saw signs they would not believe. The official was different. When Jesus said, "Go, your son is healed" the official believed, quit asking Jesus to come with him, and went his way expecting to see his son healed when he returned. And, when he met his servant, he found it to be true, just as he expected. As a result, the official and his whole household believed in the Christ! The man believed in the Word of God. He did not need to see any proof, or hear from another through their experiences. The Word of God was enough and it should be for us too. Let's learn the easy way (as opposed to the hard way) and learn from the precious and powerful Word of God!
