John 14:25-31

Jesus tells His disciples that upon His departure the Holy Spirit would come. This event is recorded in Acts 27 which we call Pentecost. Since that time everyone who receives Christ as Savior automatically has the Holy Spirit living within them. Do you avail yourselves of His desire to teach you the word of God? Verse 28 says He will teach all things. Verse 2 speaks of a kind of peace that the world will not give and for that matter cannot give. It can and should relieve us of a troubled heart. Next He tells them about going to the Father which would ultimately mean His ascending into Heaven, but there was more to it than that, meaning the cross and the grave must come first. That is why He says to them at the end of the chapter let us now move on. He also speaks of the ruler of this world, satan, who must be defeated at the cross. This is confirmed for us in I John 3:8 which says the Son of Man was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. Have you realized that the reason Jesus was here was not only to bring us to Heaven best but to also give us a life of victory over sin and the evil effects sin once had over us. How much of a peaceful victorious life do you have because of Christ?
