John 17:14-26
In the beginning of this chapter it is Jesus lifting up His eyes to the Father with this prayer. As we follow the prayer closely we find it is Jesus and His concern to the Father for the well being of those who are His own. Since I am only concerned with the above listed verses I will proceed with the high points. Jesus said He has given them His world, but the world has hated them. Why, because they are like Christ and are not of this world. We are not to be taken out of the world, but kept from the evil one which is of course the devil himself. Next we are sent into the world with the word of God which Jesus calls truth. We also are sanctified (set apart to God) by that very same truth. The glory which the Father has given the Son is also given to us who belong to Him. We are to be one. This truth the people of God have failed in miserably. The reason for this is that the world may know that the Father has sent the Son. We are not here for ourselves, or just to occupy space until we pass away. We are here for the purpose of presenting Christ as the sent One of the Father. We must question ourselves as to how well we are carrying out this important task. The love the Father has for the Son is to be displayed in us.
