Leviticus 26:18-31 - Hearken unto Me

In the passage today, God reminds the children of Israel that now ignorance is no longer an issue. Now that the people have been given the Law, they were responsible to keep it. God gave an order of consequences for the purpose of restoring the people to obedience. It was even a step by step process, increasing in severity. In the end, the nation was promised that its ultimate consequence would be death and destruction. They had to realized that their God was truly in command and was worthy of their obedience.

Today we have the promise of justification and the righteousness of Christ put on us. But, should we live as though we have a get out of Hell free card? I think not. We must, with all seriousness and devotion, endeavor to obey the Lord with the life He has given us to live. Remember, our purpose in life is not to seek pleasure, but to serve Almighty God, our creator and redeemer.

Serve the Lord your God today!
