Influenced by the "mixed multitude", the children of Israel developed a sensual focus. They became more interested in self desires than in pleasing God.
1. Sensual influence - The "mixed multitude" was a group of non-Israelites who had seen God's power evidenced in Egypt and had fled the country along with the children of Israel. This group did not have the same convictions and worshiped false gods. They influenced the people to desire the things of Egypt and complain about the provision of God.
2. Sensual interests - Israel joined this "mixed multitude" in craving things for the body and ignoring or belittling the things of the spirit.
3. Sensual iniquity - They crossed the line when they complained to God and accused His supply for them as being insufficient. They did not like the discipline of daily dependence on God.
Beware of those around you who have a half-hearted commitment to God. People of "faith" who have no desire for the spiritual. Proverbs 13:20 - "He that walketh with wise men shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed".
Walk with the Lord and beware of the "mixed multitude"!!!
