I Corinthians 10: 1-18

This chapter is one where Paul is defending his apostleship. There were some who said he didn't have that right. However, it was given to him by Christ. You can read about this in Acts 9. There are some verses though which have some interesting thoughts. First, the term "the meekness and gentleness of Christ". Jesus said in Matthew 11:29, "Learn from Me". If this is the characteristic of Christ it should be mine also. Then there is the thought in verse 4 that our warfare is spiritual. Therefore, we don't fight with guns and fists, but we do pull down the enemy's (Satan) strongholds. Next the thought is that we don't compare ourselves among ourselves. We would not be wise in doing so. Besides we would be proud and have a complete lack of humility. We would not exemplify the meek and gentle Jesus! We are told in verses 17 & 18 that if we glory in anyone it is to be in the Lord Jesus. If we are to be approved or commended it is the Lord that should do it not ourselves. However, if we slip and possibly brag on ourselves He is an all forgiving God and He deals with us in love.
