I Peter 1:9-16

The final outcome of our faith is the salvation of our souls. That ends a thought already begun in verse 3 carried on to our verse 4. Peter then goes on to mention the prophets who told in the Old Testament about the very things that were happening in our age of grace. God gave them the words to write, but they didn't know what they were writing about. They were curious but who could they know. Through the Old and New Testament we have the privilege of knowing it all. What are we doing with it! The prophesies should spur us on to holiness, not conforming ourselves to our former kind of life. We are to be holy in all our conduct. It is written to be holy just as our God is holy. We have what it takes to be holy because we are indwelt by the very Holy Spirit of God. We are a new creation as 2 Corinthians 5:17 says. We have what it takes so lets just get on with it.
