Mark 15:1-15

After a long night of having Jesus in their own mock trial the Priests and elders now bring Jesus to Pilate. Pilate asks Jesus, "Are you the King of the Jews?" There is no denial from Jesus. In Mark who shortens everything there are no more recorded answers, but in John's gospel we find enough conversation from Jesus to frighten Pilate. He finally gives in to the Jews even though he would rather not have done it.
Imagine asking for a man like Barabbas instead of someone like Jesus the great healer of the sick, and the most wonderful philosopher the world has ever known. These verses end up with Pilate wanting to gratify the people releasing Barabbas and allowing Jesus to be crucified. The world's choice is still very much with us today. We see the Barabbas characteristic very prevalent as we look around.
However, we must make a choice too. We know why Jesus died. He died for our sins by God's will. Do you know Him as your Savior today?
