Zechariah 6:9-15

In these verses men came from Babylon with a gift which must have consisted of gold and silver. They were to refine this and make a crown for Joshua who functioned as high priest at that time. This crown was not meant to exalt Joshua but he was typically to be the predecessor to Christ who is not only priest, but ruler on His throne meaning the Kingship as well. Since He is the Prophet that God would raise up like Moses according to Deuteronomy 18:15. So we could consider him Prophet, Priest and King. Notice He is called the Branch in the King James version of the Bible. Some have said that means a shoot which begins with a small sprout that comes off the stump of a tree cut down. Israel is that tree cut down and out comes the shoot which is Jesus Christ. He is called in Isaiah 53:2 a root out of the ground. Israel was the dry ground in those days. To me this speaks of both the first coming (in humility) and the second coming (glory) of the Lord Jesus Christ. We Gentiles cannot claim the glory that God has given to Israel. There will be glory for Israel but the greatest glory will be when Jesus the Branch will reign as Prophet, Priest and King. I will stand with Him on that day and will share His glory. Where will you be on that day? It is something to think about.
