Jesus answered the question of a man who appeared to want to know the truth but really wanted to achieve righteousness his own way.
The story of the Good Samaritan was used to illustrate how the pure intent of the law and priority of the law could be avoided by selfish use of the letter of the law. The Priest and the Levite in the story kept the letter of the law in self-centeredness and ignored the true intent of the law which is to love your neighbor. Love for your neighbor is only possible when you love God. Loving God means yielding to His way and accepting His Son. Compassion means:
1. Seeing the need
2. Serving the need
3. Sacrificing for the need
Walk with the Lord and follow God's true intent!!!
