In this passage the Pharisees accused Jesus' disciples of violating the Sabbath by picking and eating grain. This accusation was false for several reasons.
1.) The disciples were not stealing. Duet. 23:25
2.) David's example of eating the show-bread. 1 Samuel 21:6
3.) The priests "work" of offering the sacrifices technically broke the Sabbath.
4.) Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, did not condemn their actions.
This situation caused the disciples to consider who is the final authority for life. We must either obey God's Word or follow man's opinions and traditions. Jesus clearly showed that God's Word must be our final authority.
1.) Study God's Word attentively - Know God's truth accurately and thoroughly.
2.) Stick with God's Word accurately - Do not mix man's feelings, opinions or traditions with God's truth.
3.) Share God's Word affectionately - Proclaim God's truth with a spirit of humility and love.
Walk with the Lord and follow the final authority!!!
