Redeemed! - Exodus 6:1-13

In today's passage, God promises to redeem(deliver) Israel from bondage in Egypt. God reminds Moses that He established an unconditional covenant with Abraham. To Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God was primarily known as the "almighty God"(El Shaddai) who is completely sufficient in making the provision for the covenant. Now, He would reveal how He would make good on this covenant - through redemption! LORD = Jehovah = The self existent Holy One(I AM) who hates sin but loves sinners = REDEEMER!

"Redeem" means "to pay the price and set free". This is a slave-trade term. In the slave market one would pay the price of purchase to the existing owner and the slave would then become the redeemer's property. Jesus Christ is our redeemer! He paid the price on the cross so that we can be set free from the bondage of satan, sin and death! We no longer belong to ourselves, for we are "bought with a price", therefore we must "glorify God in our body and in our spirit which are God's".

Redeemed how I love to proclaim it - Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb
Redeemed through His infinite mercy - His child and forever I am!

Walk with the Lord in the freedom and joy of redemption!!!
