In these verses God gives instruction for the keeping of the passover as a memorial feast for future generations. They weren't even out of Egypt yet. Did you ever notice in certain Bible passages God looks at things as already done? Isaish 53 and Psalm 22 are like that.There are two prominent things mentioned here for future observances. The passover lamb, and the seven days of unleavened bread.
The passover Lamb ws to deliver them from Egypt. The blood was to be on the doorposts and God said, "When I see the blood I will pass over you."
There is a reference type of Christ being our passover in I Corinthians 5:7 which says, "for even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us." When Christ was groaning on the cross many lambs were being killed that very day.
The next is that they were not to eat anything leavened for seven days. Leaven in the scripture represents evil of some kind in the doctrine of the church or in the life of someone who is a believer. We would not worry about the unbelievers. There are two instances in the New Testament. In Matthew 13:32 a woman hid leaven in three measures of meal. Three measures of meal speaks of the perfectly refined life of Christ. No place for leaven there. The other is in I Corinthians 5:7 where the man had an affair with one of his father's wives. No place for leaven there either in the body of Christ. Is there anyleaven in your life as a Christian?
