In this passage, the people are put to a test concerning the report of the 12 spies. They must choose to believe God and go forward to the promised land or in unbelief retreat back to Egypt. The majority of the people failed the test and responded in unbelief. What can we learn from this passage?
A negative spirit of unbelief:
1. brings sorrow and discouragement v.1
2. always affects others v.2
3. builds toward rash decisions v.4
4. breaks fellowship with those of faith v.10
5. displeases God v.11,12
Hebrews 11:6 says "But without faith it is impossible to please Him for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."
The hymn writer stated:
"Great faith the mighty promise sees and looks to God above;
laughs at impossibilities and cries it shall be done."
Walk with the Lord and have GREAT FAITH!!!
