Mark 5 contains the story of a man possessed with many demons who was freed and transformed by the power of Christ. This man's life helps us to recognize and prepare for our enemy, the devil.
Symptoms of demon influence or possession
1. Obsession with death - lived in the "tombs" - after deliverance he had purpose wanting to be with Jesus
2. Nakedness and immorality - after deliverance he was clothed
3. Rebellion against authority - could not be bound with chains - after deliverance sitting with Jesus
4. Subject to bondage/self destruction - could not be "tamed" and "crying and cutting himself" - after deliverance in his "right mind"
Lessons
1. satan and his demons are lethal - they are a powerful enemy bent on death and destruction.
2. satan and his demons are liars - they promise liberty but bring bondage
3. satan and his demons are losers - they know that Jesus is Lord and one day they will all submit to Him and His judgment
I must not play with, joke about or expose myself or my family to satanic influences. Jesus Christ is all powerful! He, alone, brings truth, life and freedom! Like the man in this passage, I must tell others "what great things the Lord hath done" for me!!!
Walk with the Lord and tell your friends about our great God!!!
