Beware Of Compromise! - Ezra 4:1-5

The "adversaries" of Israel hindered the work of rebuilding the temple. They gained influence through:

1. Infiltration - "Let us build with you" - The work of God is for the people of God. When unbelievers are allowed to participate as "builders" they gain influence.
2. Imitation - "We seek your God as ye do" - Paul warned Timothy of those who "have a form of godliness" but deny "the power thereof". Jesus warned of those who come as "wolves in sheeps' clothing"
3. Intimidation - "Weakened, troubled" - With words that mischaracterize, lie and misrepresent and with words that threaten, distract and criticize the world hinders the work of God.

God has a plan to finance and perform His work. God's plan may not always be the easiest or the fastest but it is the right thing that He will honor. Be alert to the world's cheap imitations of God. Just because some one claims to have "faith" or that they or their program is "Christian" does not make it true. Physical and psychological programs that "treat" body and soul but ignore or replace the one, true, living God are dangerous and deceitful. True believers must be wise in the stewardship of their time, talent, treasure and testimony. Do not be intimidated by the world. Jesus said that if the world hated Him we should not be surprised if it also hates us. We will be labeled as intolerant, narrow(Victorian) or bigoted. We will be falsely accused and reviled when we hate sin but love sinners.

Walk with the Lord and beware of compromise!!!
