In today's passage, the Lord speaks to the people of Israel through Haggai to confirm a very important principle. He reminds them that the temple which they have built is nothing compared to the temple of Solomon in stature or wealth. However, God's intention is to use the latter temple for a greater future glory.
As we should see from this passage, though it is good to keep our temple in good condition, it is only when we surrender it to the Lord and allow it to be used by Him and for Him that He can be most glorified in our lives. A Christian must give God UNHINDERED control of their life so that He can use you to the fullest. That means we must repent, surrender, ask Him for direction through prayer and through His Word, and obey what He shows us.
We can not make decisions based on experience alone. We must go the Word of God for all matters, regardless of experience. The Jews could have written the temple off because it was not as good as Solomon's. But God did not require Solomon to build the temple as luxurious as he had. God was only pleased that it was dedicated to His glory, just as we was in today's passage.
Dedicate your temple to the Lord today and every day!
