Making Wise Choices! - 2 Chronicles 36:11-21

This passage describes the two remaining southern tribes(Judah) going into captivity in Babylon.

1. Compassion - In spite of repeated failures and rejection, God had compassion on His people and sent them many messengers (prophets) to warn them and instruct them concerning the ways of God and consequences of disobedience. God has shown all of us His love through His mercy(not giving us what we do deserve) and grace(giving us what we do not deserve). He desires our good and has made every provision for us to experience it.

2. Choice - The political leaders, religious leaders and all the people chose to mock and ignore the messengers of God. Instead of listening and repenting, they increased their disobedience until God was forced to punish them. Though God loves us and makes every provision for our good, He will never force us to choose His way. We must each choose to love God in return and obey Him. Every day we are faced with this decision many times but the choice is always ours.

3. Captivity - God used a wicked, heathen nation to discipline Judah and their "freedom" from God brought bondage to the enemy. The Babylonians completely destroyed the temple and took all the material resources that God had given to Judah. Although God allows us to choose our way we cannot choose the consequences. Obedience always eventually leads to blessing and disobedience always eventually leads to destruction.

Walk with the Lord and make wise choices!!!
