From verse 4 to 9 we have such words such as "kept" meaning that the Lord who begins a work in our hearts will bring us right through to what we call the "end". The word "end" means final outcome of our faith in body, soul and spirit when we are with Christ in Heaven. (See Philippians 1:6)
Verses 10 through 12 speaks of the prophets who prophesied in the Old Testament, about the grace of God, the sufferings of Christ and the glory that would follow when we are with Christ. All of these things seemed to be a mystery to them, but they had a holy curiosity about what they were writing about. Just think because of the New Testament we can know so openly what was to Old Testament writers a mystery. Even angels desire to look into what we already know and what is true and is ours to possess. The question is what are you doing with this kind of knowledge? Does it have an impact on your life?
The prophets words in verse 13 says, "Gird up the loins of your mind." We are to be sober minded and have hope to the end when we are with the Lord Jesus eternally. We are not to live in lust like we did when we were unsaved. Our pattern is the Lord. We are to be holy in conduct. Why? Because He is holy.
