What It Takes To Get the Job done "Right" - God's Way
In I Chronicles 22:11-19 David continues to instruct Solomon on what it will take to accomplish this task that David has envisioned in his heart and mind yet because of his past does not qualify to complete it. Many times we may have the vision but because of not being blameless we can help plan and even prepare but not have the blessing by God to conquer. David mentions what I call key ingredients to carry out a monumental mission which is so large only the LORD God can get the credit for it. Vs. 11 Now, my son, the LORD be with thee(If God is not there, it is bound for failure); and prosper (David demonstrates that he truly is ‘a man after God’s own heart’ that although God did not allow him to build “God’s House”, he still wanted his son to prosper). VS.12 Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge (David realizes that only the LORD thy God can “give” 1.wisdom, 2. understanding, and 3. the charge to accomplish this task.) VS. 13 David so far mentions twice that his desire is for Solomon to prosper(to push forward), VS.13 is monumental in seeing how past successes can influence future endeavors for the LORD "if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: 1.be strong(A verb meaning to strengthen, to overpower to fasten upon a task), and 2.of good courage(A verb meaning to be strong, determined, bold, conquer.); 3.dread not(A verb meaning not to fear, not to respect, not to reverence, not to be afraid,) 4.nor be dismayed(A verb meaning to be shattered, to scare. The base meaning is used in the idea of the breaking or shattering like a bow). VS. 14 David acknowledges that God can use past failure to become trophies of his grace. "Now, behold, in my trouble(affliction or misery) I have prepared for the house of the LORD.. VS. 19 David puts a beautiful crescendo to what will be the defining elements for success both for this task and for the life of every believer. "Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God;..."arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
