Doing God's Will! - James 4:11-17

This passage describes 3 attitudes toward God's will.

1. I choose to ignore God's will. v.13 - Some people are so busy with their own plans that they do not take time or thought concerning the will of God for their lives. Lot is an example of this attitude. When Lot was given a choice, by Abraham, concerning land he did not even consider what God wanted only thought about his own financial goals and comfort. What a terrible price he paid for ignoring the will of God.

2. I choose to resist God's will. v.17 - Some people clearly know the will of God but decide to rebel and go their own way. Jonah is an example of this attitude. Jonah was told by God to go and preach to Nineveh. Instead, Jonah boarded a ship and went in the opposite direction. He had to be chastised severely for his disobedience. Jonah's example stands as a warning to everyone who resists the will of God.

3. I choose to do God's will. v.13 - Some people completely surrender to the will of God in every area of their lives. Paul is an example of this attitude. Paul testified to King Agrippa, in Acts 22, that after his conversion on the Damascus road, he was obedient to the will of God even though it involved suffering. The will of God is the place of protection, provision, purpose and peace. Proverbs 27:8 says, "As a bird that wandereth from his nest so is a man that wandereth from his place". The place to be is in the center of the will of God!

Walk with the Lord and do His will!!!
