Proverbs 7:19-27 - Conclusion of the Harlot

Today we finish the Proverb concerning the harlot. She has worked to convince the man that going with her to the bed is the right thing to do, with no risks or consequences. The man falls prey to her words and goes to destruction as an ox goes to the slaughter (vs. 22) Imagine the slaughterhouse as the cattle are lined up. They are unknowing of their fate but they obey their instructions and get in line. Once they are in there is no turning back. Their destruction is sure. Had they not gotten in line, they would have had a way to escape.
Verse 25 tells us, "go not astray in her paths." The best way to avoid sexual sin, is to avoid exposure or proximity to it. Time and time again you here about adulterous relationships between business professionals who are out of town on business or other sins which result in "innocent" alone time. We need to avoid precarious situations.
Of course, sins of the mind are also prevalent. Should we be watching television shows or movies that are sexually provacative? The answer is obviously no! However a majority of Christians today do it anyway. A good principle to follow when watching a movie or TV show is this. Would it be appropriate for you to be the actor in that scene? If your wife or husband were in this scene would it make you upset? If your answer is yes, then why are you watching??? We must avoid all temptation and sin set before our eyes! Ephesians 5:15-16 says, "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

We must live a separated lifestyle. In order to have a testimony for the Lord and to keep ourselves from sin.
