The word "wisdom" or "wise" is used in every chapter of the book of Proverbs.
1. Knowledge is learning factual information about God.
2. Understanding is learning God's holiness.(Seeing how God is different in His character and
ways than all others)
3. Wisdom is seeing life from God's perspective and applying knowledge and
understanding.
In chapter 8, wisdom is pictured as a person offering help to mankind. We see three main things about wisdom.
1. The Voice of Wisdom - Wisdom is available! Wisdom is available to all! Wisdom is abundantly available to all! Everyone, in every place, continually hears the voice of wisdom asking us to stop and listen. The first decision of wisdom is to acknowledge the true God and His one way of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Have you heard the voice of wisdom? More importantly, are you listening and obeying?
2. The Virtue of Wisdom - The voice of wisdom speaks "excellent things", "right things", "true things". Wisdom leads us on the path toward godliness and away from sin. The wisdom of God is opposite of the wisdom of this world. How are you looking at life? What is guiding your priorities for time, talents, treasure and testimony?
3. The Value of Wisdom - Wisdom is more valuable than silver, gold, rubies or anything! If you knew the largest gold deposit in the world was under your house what would you be willing to do to get it? Wisdom is more valuable because it has eternal value! How important is it for you to get wisdom? What price are you willing to pay to have it for yourself, your family and your friends?
